Mary is an Assistant Clinical Professor in the UCSF Adult-Gerontology Primary Care Nurse Practitioner Program and coordinates the HIV Minor for the School of Nursing. She is a primary care provider with experience serving diverse communities. For example, she worked in a remote village with a high HIV prevalence while serving in the United States Peace Corps in Uganda, and later managed a clinic in a Syrian refugee camp in Greece. She holds three degrees from Johns Hopkins; Bachelor of Science in Nursing, Master of Science in Nursing in the Adult-Gerontology Primary Care Nurse Practitioner track, and a Master of Public Health. Mary has cycled across the U.S on a 4000-mile cancer fundraiser from Baltimore to San Francisco. She also enjoys backpacking, and recently hiked the John Muir Trail.
